I am back in the proverbial saddle with my trusty Konica Minolta DiMAGE Z10. I am actually kind of surprised that the old Z10 is still working because I have owned it for over three years and while I have not been particularly abusive to it, I do take it travelling and my travelling style is not the most conducive to camera preservation (a lot of hopping on and off trains, fighting crowds, fighting robbers, sand etc...). Nonetheless, after about three months in mothballs the Z10 is back to photographing and seems to be working as well as ever.

I have often enjoyed taking pictures of cities. Usually I take pictures of the nicest parts of cities. Now, however, I live very close to a less nice part of Washington, DC (H Street NE, if anyone is familiar). I am trying to find the beauty in the sheer neglect and ruin that characterizes this neighborhood. I started today and got a couple shots. This will be a long process but I think it will be good for me to learn to appreciate that it is not only the grand Hapsburg architecture of Europe of the supermodernity of Dubai that can inspire.
